Our Farmhouse

Part I

There's a whole lengthy story that goes behind this post,  but for now let's just say....

Once upon a time, my family built this home.

We loved so many things about it.
 For one,
my twin sister lived right across the street
(see the cute little house with dormers?)

We figured,  with the kid swapping, and cooking only every other night,
we pretty much had it made!

We were going to raise our kiddos here.

These two definitely had it made! (Cousins!)

I already had my oldest daughters wedding reception all planned out in the backyard.

Well,
2007 came knocking at our door (another story for another time)
and two years later we found ourselves moving
into this

A humble farmhouse.
Believe it or not, that siding was after we painted it. Ha!
Apparently 80 year old siding doesn't hold paint no matter what you do to it

Character, No?

My dad built this house,
 with his own two hands,
so it has a lot of meaning to me.

(I adore this picture of them both!)

My parents  raised 9 kids here, along with a whole lot of dairy cows.
But nonetheless,
the move here was heartbreaking.
But with this new/old house came security, and a safe place to start over.
Our family needed a fresh start.
The main part of the home was over 30 years old and everything was original to the house. Parts of the house were much older.
So we dug in and started to bring it back to life!

There was knotty pine everywhere, which is beautiful,  but dark.

We rent this home,
so any improvements we made  had to come out of our own pockets,  which translates to,
 all changes were purely aesthetic.

We weren't interested in doing an overhaul on a home that wasn't ours.
So,
 Bring on the Paint!
and some Fancy Farmgirl Furnishings!

Follow us on our farmhouse journey
and finding beauty wherever we're planted.

P.S. The outside still looks the same :)
